This policy explains what information ngadgets.com collects when you visit, why it is collected, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It applies to this website only. It does not apply to Amazon, or to any other site you reach by following a link from here.
We have tried to write this in plain language rather than boilerplate, and to describe only what this site genuinely does. Where we cannot control something, we say so instead of implying otherwise.
1. Information you give us deliberately
The only place on this site where you actively hand over personal information is the form on our contact page. That form is built with the Contact Form 7 plugin, and submissions are saved into this website’s own database by a companion plugin, Contact Form CFDB7, as well as being sent to us by email.
What that record contains is whatever you typed: typically your name, your email address, a subject line and the body of your message, together with the date and time of submission. If you paste an order number, a home address, a phone number or anything else into the message body, that becomes part of the stored record too. Please do not send us payment details, account passwords or sensitive personal data. We have no use for any of it.
We use that information for one purpose: to read your message and reply to it. We do not add contact form submissions to a marketing list, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell or rent contact details to anybody.
2. Information collected automatically
Server access logs. Like effectively every web server, the machine hosting this site records requests it receives. A log line typically includes your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the HTTP status returned, the referring page if your browser sent one, and your browser’s user agent string. These logs are generated by the web server software itself and are used for security, abuse detection and diagnosing faults.
Analytics. We run a first-party analytics component on this site to understand which pages are read, which links are followed, roughly where visitors come from and what kind of device they use. This is aggregate audience measurement. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, we do not sell the data, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.
Caching. The site sits behind a caching layer so pages load quickly. Caching systems inspect request headers and may set a technical cookie to decide whether a given visitor should be served a cached copy of a page.
3. Cookies
Cookies used on this site fall into a few groups: strictly necessary cookies set by WordPress and by the ecommerce components that render product pages, technical cookies set by the caching layer, and analytics cookies or equivalent local storage used for audience measurement.
Separately, and importantly: when you follow an outbound link from this site to Amazon, Amazon sets its own cookies in your browser. Those cookies are what record that the visit came from us and allow a commission to be attributed to a qualifying purchase. They are set by Amazon, on Amazon’s domains, under Amazon’s own privacy notice. We cannot read them, change them or delete them, and we receive no personal information about you from them. Amazon reports commissions to us as aggregate figures, not as a list of identifiable buyers.

4. Why we are allowed to process this data
For readers in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, the lawful bases we rely on under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR are:
- Consent, for analytics and any other non-essential cookie or similar technology, and for handling the contents of a message you choose to send us.
- Legitimate interests, for keeping the site available, secure and free of abuse, which covers server logs and security tooling. Our interest is running a functioning website, balanced against your interest in not being tracked more than necessary.
- Legal obligation, where we are required to retain or disclose something by law.
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, because the site cannot serve pages without them.
5. Who else sees your data
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Data is nonetheless handled by a small number of parties in the course of running the site:
- Our hosting provider, which operates the server where the site, its database and its logs live.
- Our email provider, which carries contact form notifications and any reply we send you.
- Amazon, which receives your browser request directly once you click through to its site, on its own terms.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally compelled to disclose something.
The infrastructure behind this site may process and store data in the United States or elsewhere. If you are contacting us from outside the country where the server sits, your message will cross a border in order to reach us.
6. How long things are kept
We would rather be honest than tidy here. Contact form submissions remain in the site database until we delete them, and we do not currently run an automated purge on a fixed schedule, so we are not going to promise you a retention period we do not enforce. If you want your message and its record removed, ask us and we will delete it.
Server access logs are rotated and overwritten by the server software on its own cycle. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form. Cookies expire according to the lifetime set on each one, which you can inspect in your browser at any time.
7. Children
This site is written for adults buying household appliances and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, or under 13 in the United States. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, write to us and we will delete the record.
8. Your rights
If the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to our processing of it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what categories of personal information we have collected and the purposes for collecting it, to request deletion, to request correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, so there is nothing for you to opt out of, but you are welcome to confirm that with us in writing.
9. Making a request
Email [email protected] and tell us what you want done. Because the only personal data we are likely to hold is a message you sent us, it helps enormously if you write from the same email address you used originally, or tell us roughly when you wrote and what about, so we can find the right record. We may ask a follow-up question to confirm we are dealing with the right person before we delete anything.
10. Changes to this policy
